Parkinson’s Pals

Parkinson’s is the world’s fastest growing neurological condition and a significant health challenge. The Parkinson’s Pals scheme, run by undergraduate students, is designed to connect student volunteers with local people living with Parkinson’s to both offer emotional support and gain a greater understanding of the condition. This is the first of its kind in the UK. Volunteers regularly engage in friendly conversation through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, emails or written letters and have the opportunity to get involved with Parkinson’s UK charity events. This scheme is a brilliant way to briefly escape from the ‘Durham Bubble’, form valuable bonds with new people and learn more about living with Parkinson’s.
